Self-Care, Hair Care, and Relaxation

At Shanice Neal Hair, my headspa treatments are the ultimate solution for healthier hair, a balanced scalp, and complete relaxation. Designed with both indulgence and results in mind, headspa treatments focus on cleansing, exfoliating, and nourishing your scalp and hair while easing stress and tension through expert massage techniques.

Stress is one of the biggest factors in hair health. It triggers the release of cortisol, which redirects vital blood flow—and the oxygen and nutrients it carries—away from the scalp. This impacts the health of your hair follicles, slowing growth and weakening strands. My headspas are carefully crafted to combat this, promoting circulation, calming the nervous system, and creating the perfect environment for hair to thrive.

I offer two tailored options:

The Signature Headspa
Ideal for anyone looking to refresh and rejuvenate, this treatment includes a gentle yet effective scalp scrub made with Hawaiian Red Salt and Cooling Peppermint Oil to exfoliate and detoxify the scalp. Combined with soothing massage techniques, it stimulates blood flow to deliver essential nutrients and oxygen, leaving your scalp clean, balanced, and revitalised.

The Advanced Headspa
Perfect for those seeking a deeper level of care, this treatment begins with a comprehensive scalp analysis to assess your specific needs. It features a targeted scalp detox using naturally clarifying clays and oils, which remove buildup from products, pollution, and hard water. The advanced techniques and massage elements not only restore balance to the scalp but also deliver a deeply relaxing and restorative experience for mind and body.

Headspa treatments aren’t just about luxury—they’re the best solution for achieving optimal scalp and hair health. Experience the benefits for yourself and give your scalp the care it deserves.

My headspa provides numerous benefits for both your hair and overall wellbeing.

Deep Cleansing:
Thoroughly cleanses the scalp by removing product buildup, excess oils, and impurities that can clog hair follicles, paving the way for healthier hair growth.
Dandruff Reduction:
Detoxing the scalp helps reduce dandruff and flakiness, often caused by excess buildup, irritation, or dryness.
Hair Growth Promotion:
Clearing out blockages and stimulating circulation ensures that follicles receive the oxygen and nutrients they need for healthy, consistent growth.
Stress Reduction:
Massage techniques reduce cortisol levels, calming the nervous system and promoting overall well-being while supporting hair health by restoring optimal blood flow to the scalp.
Migraine Relief:
The soothing massage techniques alleviate tension, which can help reduce the frequency and intensity of migraines and headaches.
Environmental Protection:
Treatments target the effects of hard water, medication, and pollution, reducing scalp irritation, dryness, and dullness while protecting the hair’s health and shine.
Soothing Scalp Conditions:
The Advanced Headspa effectively soothes scalp conditions like psoriasis, eczema, and seborrheic dermatitis, helping to reduce inflammation, redness, and discomfort.
Enhanced Blood Flow:
Gentle massage stimulates circulation, delivering vital oxygen and nutrients to the scalp, which strengthens hair and promotes healthier follicles.
Hydration and Cleansing:
A fine mist is used throughout the treatment to hydrate the scalp and hair while enhancing the cleansing process. The mist softens impurities, allowing for a deeper clean and leaving both the scalp and strands refreshed and nourished.
Exfoliation & Detox:
The Classic Headspa’s sea salt and peppermint scrub removes dead skin cells and detoxifies the scalp, leaving it feeling light and invigorated. The Advanced Headspa’s natural clay detox provides deeper cleansing by drawing out toxins and buildup that block hair follicles.
Relief from Itching:
By addressing buildup and irritation, headspa treatments reduce persistent itching and discomfort associated with an imbalanced scalp.
Hydration for Scalp and Hair:
Moisturising treatments improve the hydration of both the scalp and hair strands, combating dryness and restoring elasticity for softer, healthier hair.
Strengthening Scalp Serum:
At the end of each treatment, a targeted serum is applied to fortify the scalp, improve follicle health, and encourage stronger, thicker hair growth.
Improved Product Absorption:
By clearing away impurities and buildup, treatments allow future hair and scalp products to penetrate more effectively, ensuring you get the most out of your at-home haircare routine.
Relaxation & Mind-Body Balance:
From stress-relieving pressure points to gentle hair tugging, the headspa experience promotes a deep sense of relaxation, leaving you refreshed and rebalanced.
Healthier Hair from Root to Tip:
By nurturing the scalp and inner structure of the hair, these treatments improve hair strength, elasticity, and overall vitality, reducing breakage and split ends over time.
Improved Hair Shine:
A cold rinse at the end of the treatment helps seal the hair cuticle, locking in moisture, adding shine, and reducing frizz. It also calms and soothes the scalp, closing pores and enhancing circulation for a refreshed and revitalised feeling.

Who can't have a headspa

Your health and comfort are always my priority. While headspas are generally safe and beneficial, they are not suitable for clients with:

Recent Head or Back Injuries:
If you’ve had a recent head or back injury, the treatment may cause increased discomfort due to sensitivity or limited mobility. Even gentle techniques could make your condition worse or cause further pain and discomfort. It’s best to wait until you’ve fully recovered before booking a headspa.
Neck Conditions:
* Cervical Spondylosis
* Herniated Disc
* Chronic Neck Pain or Recent Neck Surgery:
If you have any neck conditions, the massage techniques used during the treatment could worsen your condition or increase discomfort. Movements involving your neck may also cause additional pain or stiffness. It’s best to avoid a headspa until your neck condition has fully healed or improved.
Pregnancy:
If you’re pregnant, some massage techniques and products used during a headspa may not be safe due to changes in your body. For example, rosemary oil can be risky for your baby during pregnancy. Lying on your back for too long may cause discomfort or affect blood flow to your baby. The heat used during the treatment can also be risky, as it may raise your body temperature, cause dehydration, or reduce blood flow to your baby.
Hair Extensions or Braids:
If you have certain types of hair extensions or braids, the techniques used in headspas may disrupt their integrity, potentially leading to damage or discomfort.
Skin Conditions (Open Wounds):
If you have skin conditions like psoriasis or eczema, headspa treatments can help soothe your scalp. However, if you have open wounds, cuts, or active lesions on the scalp, exfoliation and massage may cause further irritation or discomfort and even infection.
Severe Allergies to Essential Oils or Products:
If you have any allergies, particularly to essential oils or specific products, and are unsure whether you’ll react to the products used in a headspa treatment, you can come in for a skin test beforehand. This will help ensure that the treatment is safe for you. Always check for sensitivities before receiving any treatments.
Recent Chemotherapy or Radiation:
If you’ve had chemotherapy or radiation, your scalp may be sensitive, and you might experience thinning hair or irritation. Headspa treatments can soothe and hydrate the scalp, but some techniques, like the classic scalp scrub with salt, may be too harsh. It’s important to consult with your doctor before booking a treatment. If approved, we’ll use gentle methods to ensure comfort and avoid any irritation.
Acute Migraines or Cluster Headaches:
While headspa treatments can help alleviate tension and reduce the frequency of migraines, if you’re experiencing an active, severe migraine or cluster headache, the massage techniques or pressure points may intensify the pain. It’s best to wait until the migraine subsides before booking a treatment, as sensitivity during an active episode may cause discomfort.
Severe Heart or Circulatory Conditions:
If you have heart conditions or circulation issues, it’s important to consult with your doctor before booking a treatment. Headspa treatments involve techniques like heat, strong massage pressure, and oils (such as rosemary oil), which may not be suitable for some heart or circulatory conditions. If your doctor approves the treatment, we will adjust the approach to ensure your comfort and safety. If your doctor advises against it, we recommend postponing the treatment.
